Melvin Scott was born July 4, 1933 in Kingstree, SC. His parents were Mr. Willie and Mrs. Lily Scott. He grew up in a home with twelve children. His first job was plowing the fields in Williamsburg county (Andrews, SC where he was raised) making 40 cents a day.
On December 11, 1955, he was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church in Vero Beach, FL. He joined Charity Baptist Church in Andrews, SC in 1958 and served as a deacon. He was employed by Moore Drums for more than 41 yrs. He married Martha Johnson on February 4, 1961. In 1962, he joined Joshua Baptist Church and served as a deacon until he was called into the ministry in 1977. Almost twenty years later, he became an ordained minister. He is an active member of Winding Chain Team 1, Bible Study, the Brotherhood Ministry, Sunday School and also serves as the Assistant Pastor. His hobbies are gardening, reading, watching westerns and good old mysteries. He loves country home cooking. He has six children and five grandchildren.
